The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a statistical measure which compares a person's weight and height. Though it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat, it is used to estimate a person's healthy body weight based on his or her height. BMI is a useful tool to determine if a person's weight is within the normal range, or if he/she is underweight, overweight or obese. If BMI is less than 18.5 then the person is considered to be underweight. On the other hand if BMI is more than 29.9 then the condition is obesity. Between 25 to 29.9 is deemed to be over weight. Normal BMI is between 18.5 to 24.9
